Mind Bomb

€20.00

Artists love Ibiza and come in many guises. The quality of light attracts the myriad of painters and sculptors that make up the populous Art Club of Ibiza while the ambience, lifestyle and fascinating residents provide writers with the seedbed for their literary offerings.

So, as if to prove a point, we introduce you here to a new book by Luke Mitchell, an author who has lived on the island for 25 years. As he readily admits, he hadn't got a clue what he was embarking upon when he first put pen to paper. But with the pool of creative talent that exists on Ibiza and a lot of help from his friends here, he believes almost any kind of artistic project can be brought to fruition on Ibiza...

The starting point for Luke's often hilarious novel, Mind Bomb is a Scotsman in Cambodia sitting on top of a live land mine. The plot zigzags through time and various geographical locations, and describes the misadventures of twin brothers, Angus and Hamish Macleod.

Tragi-comic, subversive, acerbic, action-packed, controversial, bizarre, mysterious, outrageous, provocative, philosophical, Zen … the book is thoroughly enjoyable on many levels and intensely readable. Zooming from rural life on a remote Scottish island to life in the big bad city, the pace rarely lets up before it's time for another quantum leap into the unexpected. Mind Bomb reads like Billy Connolly meets Cheech and Chong. If sexually explicit anecdotes, insanely funny psychedelic stories and classic rock and roll sounds like your literary cup of typhoon tea, this rollicking romp through the sixties and seventies will blow you away and leave you asking when's the movie coming out?

The author resides on Ibiza and has pledged that a substantial percentage of the profits generated by the sale of his novel will be donated to Cambodian land mine victims. There is also a mention at the back of the book about British artist Roger Dixon's Cambodian Children's Painting Project and how to go about making a donation to this worthwhile cause.
