Nuestras aves - Birds of Ibiza by Sarah Nechamkin features 26 full-page colour plates of local birds, both resident and visitor (e.g. Bee-eater, Hoopoe, Woodchat shrike, Goldfinch, Eleonora’s falcon, Scops owl).

Besides detailed representations of the birds, some shown in flight as well as on the ground or perching, these egg tempera paintings are notable for their background landscapes, depicting coastal cliffs, salt pans, fields woodland, with a rich variety of trees and shrubs.

Each plate is accompanied by a paragraph in Spanish and English providing information about diet, behaviour and habitat, with notes on the derivation of names in various languages and anecdotes based on personal observation.

The names of each bird are set out in Spanish, Latin, Catalan, English, German and French, with indexes at the back for each language. Other features include an introduction by Martin Davies (author-editor of two recent anthologies of photography, Eivissa · Ibiza: A Hundred Years of Light and Shade (2000) and Eivissa · Ibiza: Island Out of Time (2005)), a list of exhibitions and books illustrated by Sarah Nechamkin, and a bibliography which includes books, articles, websites, videos and DVDs about birds in the Balearic Islands.
